A tranquil haven in the heart of Argyll

Dalavich was built by the Forestry Commission in the fifties although there is proof that people lived here thousands of years ago!
Kilmartin and Dunadd, (just down the road), were where the ancient Kings of Dalreda ruled the Kingdom that was to become the Scotland we know today.
Dalavich rests on the Western shore of the mighty Loch Awe in a glorious part of Scotland offering you the chance to chill out, wind down and explore. If you're into walking, cycling, boating, fishing or bird watching, this is the place for you.
Set in the heart of the forests of Inverliever and Inverinan, Dalavich was the site of the first recorded woodland management in Scotland when the Oakwoods were used to produce charcoal for smelting at Bonawe Furnace, Taynuilt. One production was cannon balls for Nelson's ships. There are many roads and forest tracks and you have the freedom to roam though caution is always needed as this is still a working forest.
Beside the village is 50-acre forest site dedicated to woodland cabins. These log cabins have been used for over 20 years for holiday makers to came and savour the peace and tranquility preserved here by careful management.
In March 2002 a 31 lb 11 oz brown trout was caught, setting a new British record. There are bigger ones just waiting for you!
But there is more to this area than fishing as you will find on the ‘What’s to do’ page.
